May 11 – Stars of the Future

The Fourtissimo Saxophone Quartet consists of Alex Cohen, Zach Cohen, Andrew Miller, and Colin Potter. All four are seniors at Catalina Foothills High School, and have been very involved within their band program, under the direction of Renee Shane Boyd. Aliyah Powe, age 12, has played the violin since she was 3. She studied with former Tucson Symphony Orchestra 2nd principal violin Claudia Walk, and is currently a student of TSO violinist Wynne Rife.

May 18 – Arizona Balalaika Orchestra

The Arizona Balalaika Orchestra began in 1980 in Tucson, AZ as a small ensemble within the University of Arizona Russian Department. The group is a spirited, non-profit community folk orchestra, playing native Slavic instruments and wearing colorful costumes. It has toured throughout Arizona and Mexico.
