May 13 - Catalina Foothills High School Steel Band
Catalina Foothills High Steel Bands (Falcon Steel) were founded in 1996 by Band Director, Renee Shane Boyd. In 2002, Dr. Tina Walton joined the Catalina Foothills High School Band staff concentrating much of her efforts on the steel band program. The program now has beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of instruction for over 130 students.
After attending the AZPAS Mass Steel Band Festival, the Falcon Steel band members had a burning desire to continue the larger steel band event on an annual basis and thus, the Tucson Field of Steel Festival was created and celebrated its 10th Anniversary this past April 13th. Falcon Steel performs on and off campus concerts and at a variety of events. If interested in having steel band music at your event, please email Tina Walton at: twalton@cfsd16. org or you can reach Dr. Walton by phone at 520-209-8320.
