We Do Not Charge Admission, But Our Concerts Are Not Free
For years, the Tucson Pops Orchestra and its sponsors have boasted that our concerts are “free to the public.” In many ways they are. After all, we do not charge admission to enjoy any of our outdoor concerts at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center. However, the concerts are not free of cost.

Primary funding now comes from our Friends of the Pops with additional support from the City of Tucson Department of Parks and Recreation, corporate spon- sors, and private and arts grantors.

After careful deliberation, the Board of Directors of the Tucson Pops Orchestra is making public all of our line item expenses for the concert season. Based on ten concerts per year (six in the spring, four in the fall), the Pops annual budget is roughly $120,000. We will play as many concerts as we have properly funded. Each concert costs roughly $12,000.

Your generosity helps fuel the Pops concerts for tonight, next Sunday, and years to come. It is only because of the support from our Friends of the Pops, corporate sponsorships and your contributions at intermission that we are able to continue to bring you “Music Under the Stars™ ” played by the Tucson Pops Orchestra.
