Joe Bourne
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Joe Bourne was inspired by many of the big names of Jazz and popular music that toured the Boston area. Whether it’s a swinging rendition of the fun song “Goody Goody”, Oscar Brown’s philosophical “Dat Dere”, the romantic ballad of Erroll Garner’s “Misty”, or his special tribute to the great Nat King Cole, Joe always seems to capture the audience with his own style and warm mellifluous jazz baritone, voice and his dynamic showmanship. He has recorded several CD’s and may be heard on various radio and TV commercials.
Joe has shared the stage with Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Dionne Warwick, The Manhattans, and several other jazz and popular music greats.
Over the years, Joe has received several prestigious awards such as The Diamond of the year award presented by The Bund Botschafter ohne Grenzen and the Kunstler des Jahres (Artist of the Year award) both for Top class entertainment in Germany. He also received the Silver Orpheus in Bulgaria and the Jimmy Kennedy award in Ireland for his special presentation of Gershwin’s “Summertime”.
After living and performing for 25 years in Europe, Joe returned to the United States in 2000, selecting Tucson, AZ as his home base. Joe performs on a regular basis at Dominic’s Real Italian Restaurant, The Epazote Kitchen at the Hilton El Conquistador, the Century Room at the Congress Hotel and at the Gaslight Music Hall in Oro Valley. In addition to his local appearances, Joe may also be seen at various locations around the USA presenting his various tribute concerts: Nat King Cole, An Unforgettable Century, The Music of Motown and other Gems of that era, remembering Sam Cooke and Lou Rawls, a tribute to Johnny Mathis and other great Gentlemen of Swing Blues and Pop and a tribute to Quincy Jones with the U of A Fred Fox School of Music 18 piece Jazz Ensemble.
Joe has served as vice president of the board of directors for KXCI and the Tucson Jazz Society and has served on the entertainment committee for the Oro Valley Arts Council (SAACA) and is founding member of the Oro Valley Optimist Club.
