Michael Fan

Picture
You know Michael as Concertmaster of the Tucson Pops, but he’s also an amazing composer and one of the busiest musicians in Tucson. His witty classical compositions for children include many original modern fairy tales that are as amusing in their stories as they are charming in their music as he reimagines classic fairy tales like Goldilocks and the Three Bears with his own wry twists. He is a founding member of the Tucson Symphony Piano Trio, and he writes, plays and arranges music in an incredible array of genres, including jazz, klezmer, and tango. Recent projects include a CD, New Kids Classics, and film music for the eco-western, Patagonia Treasure Trail. In January 2019, he performed for the Tucson Jazz Festival with the band No Fiction. We are proud to have such an outstanding and versatile musician as our Concertmaster!

Joseph Pagán

Picture
Joseph Pagán has been a member of the Tucson Symphony viola section since 1989, and has served as Assistant Principal Viola of the Peter Britt Festival and the Cascade Festival of Music. Mr. Pagán has also performed as Principal Viola with the Tucson Pops Orchestra, The Southern Arizona Light Opera Company, and the Catalina Chamber Orchestra in addition to performing as soloist with the Tucson Pops Orchestra, the Tucson Civic Orchestra and the Tacoma Youth Symphony. When Mr. Pagán isn't engaged in a battle of wills with his viola, he enjoys designing and building Hi-Fi gear and keeping abreast of the latest developments in Prototype Racing.
